Who We Are
At The Guardian Project, we believe that to be good ancestors, we must intentionally shape an educational landscape that equips our young people to navigate an unpredictable and fragile future with confidence and compassion.
This means moving beyond the old paradigm of information delivery, test preparation, and rote content learning. Instead, we envision schools and educators as guides, mentors, and facilitators, empowering students to develop curiosity, resilience, and a genuine sense of responsibility for the world they are inheriting. By reimagining education in this way, we honor our role as protectors of the next generation and actively invest in a brighter tomorrow.
Our founder
Robert Landau was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, to a screenwriter father and a drama teacher mother. During his college years in San Francisco, he had the opportunity to live and study in Sweden for his junior year of college, and this experience changed his life. After two more summers working at a summer camp in Switzerland, he returned to California, where he received a teaching credential and went right back overseas to become a teacher and administrator in international schools in Switzerland, Indonesia, the Czech Republic, China, Cambodia, and Singapore.
In China, Robert also helped create the Jiashan Foundation that continues to support schools and education in the province of Gansu. After 40 years abroad, Robert returned to the USA in 2015 to become the Executive Director of the Hawai'i Association of Independent Schools.
In 2017, Robert formed his own consulting business called Two Roads Education. He works with schools and companies in governance, strategic planning, mission/vision, curriculum, research & development, and other areas.
He still has a close connection to Cambodia as the founder and board chair of Cambodia's Future Foundation. CFF gives economically disadvantaged but competent high school students a full scholarship to a university in Cambodia. Robert just completed a two-year interim as Head of School at Maui Preparatory Academy. He is now back in the consulting world with Two Roads Education.
Robert’s greatest identified strength is Futurist. His strategic view syncs with the name of his consulting company – Two Roads Education. His inspiration comes from the words of Robert Frost: “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”
Robert Landau believes deeply that The Guardian Project will guide their members to their unique and extraordinary path.
